    Topic: Ransomware: Everyone has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth

    Description:

    Ransomware attacks can be devastating for businesses. In the wake of recent attacks that have affected organizations in the Southwest Ohio area, our presenter will discuss how ransomware attacks work and provide a timeline of recovery and industry best practices. 

    CPE: 1 hour

    CPE credits are based on a 50-minute hour.  CPE is offered through the ACFE as well as the Accountancy Board of Ohio (sponsor number CPE.00467).  Attendees must attend 50 minutes of the meeting and answer 3 polling questions during the meeting to validate attendance. 

    Learning Objectives

    Promotion of improved fraud detection and deterrence and through expansion of knowledge in relation to the session's topic.

    Speaker Bio: 

    Brent currently runs the digital forensics and incident response practice in North America for CyXcel. He is an expert in the cyber insurance claims process, incident preparedness, and incident management. Prior to this role, Brent co-founded Lyra Recovery, a major network recovery firm. He began work in the cyber incident response field as a Detective and Special Agent investigating cybercrimes for a Sheriff's Office in Virginia and Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Brent holds a Master's degree in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigation from University College Dublin in Ireland and also maintains certifications in digital forensics and incident response from SANS.

    Join us for another Southwest Ohio ACFE Chapter community service event! At this event, we will assist The Foodbank with warehouse work.  This will be based on the needs of the day, but may include sorting food, preparing senior boxes, and/or preparing emergency boxes.


    We committed to bring a group, so please email president@swohacfe.org to let us know you can attend.  Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes.

    For over 40 years, The Foodbank has served as the primary source of food for the hunger relief network in the Miami Valley. The Foodbank – the only one of its kind in the area – relieves hunger in the community through a network of partner agencies by acquiring and distributing food. The Foodbank provides the infrastructure for more than 110 member food pantries, community kitchens, and shelters that serve as the charitable hunger relief network in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble Counties.
